Benefits of Hydro Electricity

Serving as one of the most efficient, renewable energy sources, hydro electric power is the leading source of the world’s energy needs after fossil fuels . Currently, only a third of hydro-power resources have been developed. But this has already resulted in a daily decrease of 4.4 million barrels of oil used for generating electricity.

Hydro power produces very few green house gasses, no air pollutants and has no toxic by-products. After the initial investment, hydro-power has a low cost to production ratio. The U.S. Department of Energy’s Energy Information Association (EIA) estimates that hydro electricity, among other renewable energy resources, will grow at an unprecedented rate - roughly 56% - by the year 2025.
